Liaison Team Leader for Philosophy, Theology and Humanities

Falvey Memorial library, Villanova University -- Villanova, PA

Plan and coordinate the work of the Philosophy/Theology/Humanities liaison team, including collection development (the selection and acquisition of print, media and electronic library resources), course-integrated information literacy instruction, faculty research assistance, student research consultation services, and the formal and informal connection of pertinent academic departments to all library program areas. Support for emerging digital humanities, open access publishing projects and other similar initiatives with emphases on Philosophy, Theology and Humanities; support critical library activities on a secondary team (Assessment, Communication, Scholarly Outreach, Digital & Special Collections or Technology & Web Services) based on interest, expertise and experience.

 
2012 Philip F. Neau Memorial Award Winner

Congratulations to the 2012 winner, Jean Elvekrog of Waunakee, WI. This award is presented biennially by the Children’s Library Services Section to a past or current CLSS member for outstanding contributions to the Section. This award was created in 2007 in memory of Philip F. Neau, treasurer of CLSS from 2001-2007. Philip died on May 31, 2007 at the age of 59.

The award is supported by the Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing Company.

 
Call for 2013 Convention Proposals

Catholic Library Association invites the submission of quality proposals for presentation at the 2013 Annual Conference, April 2-4, 2013, in Houston, Texas. CLA meets in conjunction with National Catholic Educational Association during Easter Week each year. Those attending CLA are librarians serving patrons of all ages primarily in K-12, academic, theological, parish and public libraries. In addition to general topics for these groups, additional sessions focus on archives, information literacy, technical services and preservation of American Catholic materials. Teachers and administrators registered with NCEA may also attend any CLA session. The 2013 convention theme is Leadership, Direction, Service.

Silent Auction of Illumination from the Saint John's Bible

The Heritage Fund is sponsoring a Silent Auction---beginning at the CLA convention in Boston and continuing until midnight (CDT) on July 15, 2012.

A gorgeous 15" X 22" print of "Creation," the opening illumination to the Book of Genesis in The Saint John's Bible, valued at $195, will go to the highest bidder. This print on Hahnemuhle paper stock, is generated from extremely high resolution image files. Archival based pigmented inks are used, which are fade and rub resistant, and guaranteed to last well over 100 years.

Archives Workshops 2012

The Catholic Library Association is pleased to announce the fifth Introductory Archives Workshop for Religious Communities to be held at the Oblate Renewal Center, San Antonio, TX  from  June 24-29, 2012. The 5-day intensive program is directed toward individuals who are interested in learning about archival theory and practice or who wish to update their archival training.

Unlike other archival workshops, the sessions will focus on the unique types of records found in the archives of men’s and women’s religious communities. These records document not only the communities themselves, but also the evolution of Catholicism in the United States, and its impact on educational, social and charitable institutions that shaped the nation’s history.
