In Memoriam: Dr. Dennis A. Norlin

The American Theological Library Association (ATLA) remembers the life of Dr. Dennis A. Norlin, retired ATLA Executive Director. Dennis passed away on Friday June 7, 2013, after a serious illness.

Please join us in offering his family and friends our sincerest condolences during this sad time.

Dennis will be remembered and missed as a colleague and friend, and we are grateful for his fifteen years of loyal service to ATLA.

"Picture This! Using Your Visual Literacy Skills"

This is the first time that NESLA is offering a conference in the summer, a less stressful time of the year.  The New England School Library Association's annual conference "Picture This! Using Your Visual Literacy Skills" will be at the Eric Carle Museum of the Picture Book in Amherst, MA on August 5, 2013.  Leonard S. Marcus, noted historian and critic, is the keynote speaker.  Illustrator/author Mary Newell DePalma will participate in the breakout session discussing the visual literacy standards-- one of four breakout sessions.

NEW - Charlotte Decker Memorial Award

The Charlotte Decker Memorial Award is given annually to honor an outstanding member of the Children’s Library Services Section or the High School/Young Adult Library Services Section of the Catholic Library Association. The award consists of a complimentary ticket to either the Regina Medal luncheon or the opening awards dinner at the CLA annual conference. (The choice is the recipient’s.)

2013 Scholarship Winners

We are happy to announce the winners of the 2013 Quilt Scholarship Convention Award - Fr. Ken O'Malley and Mary Kelleher, both of Houston, TX are the lucky recipients of $155.00 apiece.  Monies for this scholarship to help offset convention fees were raised by our annual Quilt Raffle.  The quilts are hand crafted by Cathy Fennell.  We thank her for her time and talent to make the beautiful quilts.  The lucky winners of the quilts were Sara Baron and Amy Sopchak.
