Parish Library Listerv Announced

A new listserv, CLApl, has been created by the Parish and Community Library Services Section of the Catholic Library Association especially for librarians at Catholic churches--anywhere!!  Membership is restricted so you must request to join via Yahoo Groups.  However, you DO NOT need to be a member of CLA.  At CLApl, you can post questions you have about setting up a library, managing your library, increasing circulation, cataloging materials, sources for new titles--the ideas are endless!  To join CLApl now and submit your membership request, click on Join a CLA Sponsored Listserv or select the icon in the left-side navigation bar.

 
Cyberbullying is Topic of Discussion at Wisconsin Chapter Fall Conference

WI_mapDr. Patchin is an associate professor of criminal justice at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and is co-director of the Cyberbullying Research Center (www.cyberbullying.us). He has written numerous articles on adolescent behaviors online and co-authored the new book, Bullying Beyond the Schoolyard: Preventing and Responding to Cyberbullying (Sage Publications).

Catholic Library World Welcomes New Editor

Catholic Library Association has named Sigrid Kelsey the new general editor of the association's quarterly journal, Catholic Library World, effective immediately. She will succeed longtime editor, Mary E. Gallagher, SSJ, of Elms College, Chicopee, Massachusetts, who in 2009, announced her pending retirement after fifteen years of service to the publication.

 
5th Annual CLA Collaborative Quilt Raffle

quilt5Several members of CLA accepted the challenge and made a quilt block with fabric provided at last year's convention. The quilt raffle took place at the annual convention in Minneapolis on April 8, 2010. Lyn Busche from St. Jude School in Cincinnati was this year's quilt raffle winner. Proceeds from the quilt raffles go to the Catholic Library Association Scholarship Fund. A 6th Annual CLA Collaborative Quilt is planned. Watch this website for further details.
