Church librarians in Catholic parishes now have a new tool to make their collections more organized and accessible to patrons: the Catholic Supplement to A Handbook for Church Librarians published by the Catholic Library Association (CLA). The second revised edition of the Handbook for Church Librarians was published in 2006 by the National Church Library Association and is geared toward the novice parish librarian.

The new CLA Supplement adds specifically Catholic elements and resources that a Catholic parish library will need. It includes three chapters on the basics of setting up and maintaining a parish library, as well as appendixes with Catholic subject headings, lists of reference materials, and websites for Catholics.

The Supplement was developed and written by a committee of the Parish and Community Library Services Section of the Catholic Library Association. The Supplement is available bundled with the Handbook for $35.00 plus shipping.
