Peter C. Phan was presented with the Catholic Library Association’s 18th Jerome Award at CLA’s Opening Awards Dinner on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at the Hyatt Regency Orange County Hotel. The award is in recognition of his outstanding contribution and commitment to excellence in scholarship which embody the ideals of the Catholic Library Association. Father Phan, coming from Vietnam to the U.S. as a refugee in 1975, is currently the Ignacio Ellacuria Chair of Catholic Social Thought at Georgetown University. He has earned three doctorates and has authored a dozen books and 300 essays on various themes of theology. He is the first non-Anglo to be elected President of the Catholic Theological Society of America.
